Community Festival Weekend
at Holy Trinity Church
A packed church enjoyed a unique performance of this well known
cantata presented by a cast of nearly forty people from our community
of North Barnes. James Cryer (organist at Holy Trinity) and Jennifer
Jackson (member of Holy Trinity and former soloist with the Royal
Ballet) worked together with children from Lowther School (holding
masks), the adult choir and members of church and community. The
rainbow and Noah’s Ark mural were made by children from the
Lifestyle group of Castelnau Community Centre.

Cast and audience were treated to a traditional Vicarage
tea party of sandwiches and cakes following the performance
which was laid on by church members.

The Vicarage grounds offered a relaxing space to enjoy
the summer afternoon and meet with friends

Following God’s heartbeat...

The Community Weekend continued on Sunday with a powerful
drumming service led by Kristian Bediyako who brought 50 African drums.
The following comment was overhead: ‘I have never known it possible
to get adults as well as children dancing and drumming within three
minutes!’. The Vicar, Revd Jean Boulton-Reynolds donned a special
Asian clerical outfit for the occasion and was delighted with the energy
and enthusiasm for the service. Kristian led a drumming workshop
following the service which (as can be seen below) needed a fair
amount of concentration but was great fun. Sudanese cooking and
making card raindrops for the people of the Rajhastan desert to
support Wells for India were also on offer.

Face painting with an African theme and Indian henna
hand
painting were also available and with another hot and sunny
day many people enjoyed the BBQ which ran throughout the event. |
