Stars of Barnes
This year is the 10th anniversary of the Friends of St Mary's Barnes, and to celebrate they are presenting a Stars of Barnes celebrity evening on Sunday 2 October. The event will bring together many of the well-known and talented people who live in Barnes for an evening of music, singing, readings and comedy. Gyles Brandreth will be hosting the all-star cast which will include actors Isla Blair, Julian Glover and Susie Blake, harpist Ieuan Jones, singers Kevin O'Brien and Carolyn Allen and comedians Jan Ravens and Alistair McGowan. Over the last ten years, The Friends of St Mary's Barnes have organised many events including celebrity evenings, lectures, concerts, son et lumière and even a valuation day and an art exhibition. These have not only raised valuable funds for the upkeep of St Mary's but also brought many of the local community into the church and helped promote public awareness of its place in Barnes.
