Here we are taken through the Eucharist service relating it to our daily living. This is a book you will always want to read again as it contains so much wisdom and humour.
(ISBN 978-0- 238-06080-1) The narrative of Holy Week is powerful and painful, but because we know how the story ends, it’s easy to gloss over the difficult details. Here we have a series of meditations on the cross, the crown of thorns, a seamless robe, the hopes of God, our sorrows, a broken heart. The book can be read in a group or alone and it is well written and suggests passages from the Scriptures to ponder over.

A gem of a book – brave, tender and honest, looking at difficult areas of faith: Dealing with our desires and The Gift of Forgiveness are just two of the titles. A good book for that train journey into work or to dip into over a lunch break.
Neil Astley & Pamela Robertson-Pearce (Eds) (ISBN 978-1-85224 -766-9) Poetry for some plays an important part in their spiritual growth. Here is a very fine collection drawing on a wide range of religious traditions. There are some old favourites like Carol Ann Duffy’s Prayer, “Some days, although we cannot pray, a prayer utters itself” as well as some beautiful Japanese poems by Shikibu. Although the wind The book is beautifully published and a real treat to read.
(ISBN 978-0-85439-752-5) Forty wonderful pictures about the life of St Paul and a meditation to go with each one of them. A real insight into Paul’s vision of the Christian life brought alive through the reflection of Sister Wendy. A great book for Lent. |
