Revd Robert Jones, MBE

Rev. Robert Jones, chaplain at Roehampton University, and who has often led worship at the Methodist Church, received an MBE in the Queen's New Year's honours list for his services to the higher education sector.

Based at Southlands College, Rob came into higher education after several years in Circuit ministry. His work involves students and staff, and outside the University he is also National Methodist University Chaplaincy Co-ordinator.

Rob Jones said: "This experience is very confusing. It is the sort of thing that happens to other people, good and famous people who have some very obvious track record of achievement. So all at once, I am baffled and amazed and excited and delighted."

Rob is now in his eleventh year as Southlands college Chaplain and Methodist Chaplain to the University. He is also committed to the role of National HE Chaplaincy Co-ordinator for the Methodist Church. "This combination, together with resources which Southlands and the Methodist Church have been prepared to make available, and a sequence of tremendous colleagues over the years, have allowed me to do a range of very exciting and stimulating things for students and staff," he said. "I feel pleased for our whole team that Chaplaincy has been acknowledged in this kind of way."
