Bluebells
Wychcroft Retreat

Rosemary Hurry

In April, fourteen of us from St. Mary’s & St. Michael’s went on a retreat led by Brother Angelo SSF. It was a grounding and refreshing experience.
Brother Angelo set us on our way when he led us… “into a pool of silence – for our Lord to come.” We were there available to God to wait and listen and be refreshed by grace, before returning to the busy world to ‘do battle’. A prayer which he shared with us at the outset was:

Be as you are Lord
With me as I am.
And do as you will.

Bro Angelo’s addresses covered:

  • Being peacemakers and having right relationships
  • Body Mind and Spirit
  • Healing, wholeness, oneness – God in us as a reality
  • A serving people and a healing people – how we can serve with gifts given so to do.

We laughed, and thought, and prayed together. We walked on a beautiful day through glorious bluebell woods and across fields, and spring really had begun. It was all gloriously ‘franciscan’!

Ending on Sunday with a Mass followed by the laying on of hands it felt for all of us an affirming and complete end to three memorable days.
Finally a last word from Brother Angelo: “You can’t love who you don’t know – so first know God.”
