The Pentecost Banquet 2006

Guests enjoying the Pentecost Banquet

"Absolutely wonderful!" said one satisfied guest at the end of this year's Pentecost Banquet, as Jane Sherwin wandered around with a lonely walking stick which had (temporarily, we hope) mislaid its owner. About 80 people were welcomed by Fr Tony Logan at the Barnes Green centre, and sat down to a meal efficiently served by members and clergy of various CTiB churches. Happy laughter and conversation filled the room for more than an hour. When the tables had been cleared, a sing-song of favourites proved good fun – even if some of the younger people present struggled with some of the tunes! Edelweiss from The Sound of Music was the most requested and most raucously-sung piece – and a close runner-up was The White Cliffs of Dover: Dame Vera Lynn would have been proud of the performance. The Pentecost Banquet is now a firm part of the Barnes calendar, so roll on next year, when we do it all again.
