2005 Alpha Initiative

Alpha Initiative logo
This September Barnes Baptist Church will again be joining thousands of other churches from across the denominations in the National Alpha Initiative.

Alpha provides an opportunity for anyone who wants to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening setting to come and listen to a talk and join in the after-talk discuss. Refreshments are provided and the aim is that each session should be low-key, friendly and fun with folk free to attend as many or as few times as they wish.

People come from many backgrounds, holding many different viewpoints – but all come with the same objective: to establish whether Jesus Christ has any real relevance for their lives.

By 2004 29,051 Alpha Courses had been registered worldwide – in Australia, France, Russia, Japan, USA, etc – with an estimated 6.7m attendees. The Course looks at subjects such as, 'Why did Jesus die?', 'Who is the Holy Spirit?', 'Does God Heal Today?' – and many more.

Alpha is free and there will almost certainly be a course running near you. If you'd like more information about Alpha at Barnes Baptist Church phone 0208 748 8086. Or you may like to log onto the Alpha website www.alpha.org.
